The galaxies are not shown growing larger. The grid spacing grows, representing increasing distance between galaxies. Switching observers shows that Earth is not a special center.

Student guide

How to investigate cosmic evidence

  1. Measure redshift. Move the cyan hydrogen reference lines until they match each galaxy’s observed dark lines. Record all six galaxies and interpret the graph.
  2. Test the expansion model. Increase grid scale and switch observers. Notice what changes and what stays constant.
  3. Scan microwave radiation. Record signals in at least eight directions and identify the large-scale pattern.
  4. Analyze composition. Compare hydrogen and helium mass percentages from four separated regions.
  5. Synthesize evidence. Choose the explanation that accounts for all observations and write evidence-based reasoning.
No memorized formula is required. The model converts a correctly matched low-redshift value into an approximate recession velocity. Your job is to identify and explain patterns.
